St. Martin's goose in Prague 2026: a four course feast at Deer Restaurant
Tender goose meat, rich traditional soup, cabbage, dumplings and something sweet to finish. From 2 to 11 November 2026, Deer Restaurant in Prague invites you to celebrate St. Martin's Day with a traditional Czech feast. For the occasion, we've prepared a four-course menu that brings together time-honoured recipes, carefully selected ingredients, expert preparation and beautiful presentation.
Whether you're planning a trip to Prague, festive family lunch, a romantic autumn dinner or a gathering with friends, leave the cooking to us and simply enjoy the occasion.
Where to enjoy St. Martin's goose in central Prague
Just a few minutes' walk from Old Town Square, on historic Michalská Street, you'll find Deer Restaurant. Original architectural features, a glass-covered atrium, elegant interiors and live music create a welcoming setting for a leisurely autumn lunch or a special evening out.
Led by Chef Lubomír Dolejš, our kitchen draws inspiration from Czech culinary traditions, complemented by French cooking techniques. The focus is on quality ingredients, careful preparation and thoughtful presentation of every dish.
What's on the St. Martin's Day menu this year?
Guests can look forward to four courses that bring familiar autumn flavours together with thoughtful culinary touches, from a delicate starter and hearty goose soup to the main course and a sweet finish.
To start: goose with chestnuts and pear
The first course features a pulled goose medallion accompanied by sous-vide goose breast. Served with autumn vegetables, a smooth chestnut cream and pear purée, the dish combines savoury flavours with a delicate fruity contrast.

It's a lovely introduction to the menu, offering different preparations of goose alongside the comforting flavours of autumn.
Traditional goose soup with homemade noodles
No St. Martin's feast would be complete without a bowl of traditional goose soup, known in Czech as kaldoun. At Deer Restaurant, we prepare it with liver dumplings, root vegetables, homemade noodles and fresh herbs.

Kaldoun is a classic of Czech cuisine, and its preparation requires both time and skill. The rich flavour of the soup, tender dumplings and homemade noodles make it a dish that many guests look forward to just as much as the goose itself.
The star of the menu: confit goose leg
The highlight of our St. Martin's feast is a confit goose leg, slowly cooked until beautifully tender and succulent.

It is served with red and white cabbage, apples cooked in port wine and bread dumplings with gingerbread. Crispy Viennese onions and a delicate red cabbage espuma complete the dish, adding layers of flavour and texture.
It's a familiar Czech classic, with a few thoughtful touches that make it distinctly Deer's own.
A sweet finish with traditional St. Martin's pastries
The four-course menu concludes with an assortment of miniature St. Martin's cakes, served with vanilla sauce and chocolate soil.

These delicate pastries, accompanied by smooth vanilla sauce and a touch of chocolate, provide a lovely sweet ending to the meal after the rich flavours of the goose.
The complete St. Martin's menu for CZK 1,295
At Deer Restaurant, you can enjoy the full St. Martin's menu, from the first starter to the final pastry, for CZK 1,295 per person. If you're tempted by just one or two of the specialities, all four courses are also available individually.
While the goose leg usually takes centre stage during St. Martin's celebrations, it's well worth saving room for the other courses. Each one reveals the care and craftsmanship that go into preparing these traditional autumn dishes.
St. Martin's celebrations begin on 2 November
At Deer Restaurant, the St. Martin's festivities begin a little earlier this year. Our special menu will be served from 2 to 11 November, so there's no need to wait until St. Martin's Day itself to enjoy this beloved Czech autumn tradition.
With ten days to choose from, you can join us for either a festive lunch or dinner. We recommend reserving your table in advance, conveniently online through the Deer Restaurant website.
