Introducing BEEFy Burger: Street food serving up Czech history with a twist on Old Town Square
What does Jan Hus have to do with plum BBQ sauce? How did Forefather Čech find his way into the story of the Bacon Cheese Burger? And what exactly is Charles IV doing with a burger in his hand? Historical records are strangely silent on the matter. BEEFy, however, has its own version of events.
BEEFy Burger, our new street food concept, officially opened its doors on St Wenceslas Day in the U Prince building on Prague’s Old Town Square, just steps from the Astronomical Clock.
The newest addition to Bauer Hotel Group is built around what matters most: food worth coming back for, and a story worth sharing.
Here, modern street food finds itself in some rather unexpected company: Czech kings, writers, military leaders and other familiar faces from the history books. Every item on the menu has its own hero - and its own version of how Czech history supposedly unfolded.
Why did Jan Žižka end up with the Old Town Dog? What brought Božena Němcová to the brownie? And what else did the history books conveniently forget to mention?
BEEFy has the answers. Their historical accuracy is best left unchecked.
What can you expect?
Juicy beef from a local butcher, fresh buns from our own bakery and house-made sauces. The menu features the Royal Chilli Burger, BBQ Plum Burger, JD Honey Burger and a proper Double Burger - from classics with cheese and bacon to bolder combinations with chilli, plum BBQ or honey whiskey sauce.
Then there are Loaded Fries, the Old Town Dog, homemade brownie, craft ice cream and milkshakes. All at a fair price.
And if meat isn’t your thing, no problem. Every burger on the menu can also be made vegetarian.
Behind BEEFy: The pioneer of the Czech burger scene
For the new concept, Bauer Hotel Group joined forces with Zdeněk “Zed” Střížek. He was behind Prague’s legendary Bejzment and founded Burgerfest, which helped bring quality burgers into the Czech mainstream.
He brings more than 35 years of experience in gastronomy, including time spent in the US, running restaurants and managing large-scale catering projects. For years, he has also been involved in catering for Rock for People, one of the Czech Republic’s biggest music festivals.
At BEEFy, Zed brings that experience to what he has always loved most about burgers: bold flavours, quality ingredients and an idea that doesn’t take itself too seriously.
Because the story can be as clever as you like. If the burger isn’t good, no one will care about it the second time around.

You’ll find BEEFy Burger right on Prague’s Old Town Square, on the ground floor of the U Prince building at Staroměstské náměstí 29, Prague 1, just steps from the Astronomical Clock.
