Your guide to a great afternoon in Prague Old Town
Looking for a way to spend a great afternoon in Prague? Maybe you’re planning a date, visiting the city for a few days, or simply want to show someone around without spending the whole day ticking landmarks off a list.
Here’s an easy plan combining brunch, coffee overlooking the Astronomical Clock, dinner above the rooftops of Prague and cocktails to finish the night. Everything is right in the historic centre and within walking distance.
Start with brunch at Deer Restaurant
First things first: good food and a little peace and quiet. Deer Restaurant serves brunch right in the centre of Prague, tucked away from the busiest tourist streets.
The menu covers all the brunch favourites, whether you visit on a weekday or at the weekend. Eggs just the way you like them, fluffy pancakes, pastrami or a proper English breakfast.

Brunch is served every day until 3 pm, so there’s no need to rush. Start the day late, stop by before exploring the Old Town, or settle in for a relaxed brunch for two before heading back into the city.

Coffee and something sweet overlooking the Astronomical Clock
After brunch, make your way to Old Town Square and take a seat at Restaurant U Prince, directly opposite the Prague Astronomical Clock.
This is one of those places where you can simply sit back and watch Prague go by: the clock in front of you, the buzz of Old Town Square all around and nowhere you need to be for a while.
Order a coffee and try the Bauer cake, our Prague answer to Vienna’s Sachertorte.

A chocolate sponge is layered with mousse made from 70% Belgian chocolate and a delicate layer of white chocolate. Rich, deeply chocolatey and exactly the kind of dessert that makes you stay for another few minutes.
If chocolate isn’t your first choice, you’ll also find classics such as crème brûlée, tiramisu and apple strudel on the dessert menu.

Dinner from the Josper grill above the rooftops of Prague
As evening approaches, head a few floors up to Terasa U Prince.
The menu features dishes prepared on the Josper grill, from juicy steaks to fish and seafood. Charcoal, high heat and a beautifully grilled finish do most of the talking. Add a chilled glass of wine or a cocktail and the rooftops of Prague in front of you, and your evening is sorted.

Try to book your table before sunset. Start with dinner overlooking the city, stay for golden hour and watch as the towers and rooftops of Old Town gradually light up after dark.
From Tuesday to Thursday, you can also catch Sunset DJ from 6 pm to 10 pm. After dinner, stay for a cocktail, some music and sunset above Prague.

And after dinner? Cocktails and nightlife at Zlatý Strom
Not ready to call it a night? Walk a few minutes from Old Town Square to Zlatý Strom Bar & Club on Karlova Street.
Every day from 7 pm to 10 pm, Happy Hours bring selected cocktails from CZK 99. Cuba Libre, Aperol Spritz or Moscow Mule? Pick your first round and decide where the night goes from there.

The Nest offers a more relaxed cocktail lounge, The Roots brings the music and dance floor, while The Apple hosts a professional live dance show every evening from 9 pm.
Entry is free, and you can move freely between all three spaces throughout the night.

Four stops, one afternoon in the heart of Prague
Brunch. Coffee and something sweet. Dinner at sunset. A cocktail to finish the night.
There’s no need to plan journeys across the city or search for your next stop every couple of hours. All four places are in Prague’s historic centre and can easily be combined into one relaxed afternoon and evening.

So, who are you bringing with you?
